Job Description

We are seeking a Backend Engineer with expertise in distributed systems to enhance the fault-tolerance and reliability features of our blockchain automation, relaying, and indexing services. In this role, you will be tasked with proactively identifying reliability and functional issues in the daily operation of our stack, designing and implementing long-term solutions, as well as short-term mitigations. You will oversee backend applications that facilitate cross-chain protocol workflows, such as asset transfer and generalized message passing, ensuring that our systems remain fault-tolerant and highly available.

Your Responsibilities

• Reliability: Expand and deepen observability to proactively identify functional and reliability issues, develop long-term solutions, and mitigate short-term impacts.
• Diagnostics: Conduct investigative work on cross-chain and single-chain workflows, understand complex behaviors, and devise optimal tweaks or improvements.
• Network Liveness: Build and operate the execution layer of the Axelar Network, ensuring every transaction is delivered swiftly and reliably.
• System Implementation: Develop highly reliable and scalable backend components for blockchain indexing and cross-chain protocols. Create microservices that operate across diverse environments, including Kubernetes and AWS Lambdas.
• Distributed Systems: Apply your expertise in distributed systems to ensure fault tolerance, graceful failure handling, and transparent recovery across our services.

Your Profile

• Extensive experience working with distributed systems at scale.
• Deep knowledge of fault tolerance in distributed systems with an ability to build software that recovers gracefully.
• Experience with distributed messaging frameworks (RabbitMQ, AMPQ, or similar) and message-driven applications.
• Experience developing and orchestrating microservices in different execution environments like Kubernetes and AWS Lambdas.
• Familiarity with GoLang, Terraform, AWS is desirable. We welcome strong candidates with expertise in some of these technologies or with transferable skills.
