Base Camp is Outlier Ventures’ 12-week accelerator program, crafted to provide Web3 founders with expert support across the globe. This program includes expert-led sessions, dedicated advisory, and culminates in a demo day attended by top-tier investors.

Ascent is Outlier Ventures’ leading global token launch program. It offers expert advice and assistance for later-stage projects, focusing on areas such as token launch strategy, token design, go-to-market planning, and product development. The program is tailored to ensure teams achieve long-term, sustainable success by offering specialized expertise and resources.

About The Role

We are on the lookout for an Investment Associate to join our Investment Team. This role is designed to support the recruitment and signing of the most promising Web3 teams to join one of Outlier’s accelerator programs. You will play a crucial role in evaluating the accelerator’s deal flow pipeline, interfacing with various founders and builders, conducting due diligence, and engaging in early-stage ventures.

Working hand-in-hand with the Investment Manager and Accelerator Lead, as well as subject matter experts across various departments (Product and Engineering, Token Economies, Marketing, Legal teams), you will strengthen the investment team, manage program deal flow, optimize investment processes, and develop investment thesis in collaboration with senior management. This role thrives on leveraging your extensive Web3 network to recruit and invest in the foremost Web3 builders.

Key Responsibilities

• Diligence and Evaluation: Oversee and support comprehensive diligence on accelerator applicants, covering operational and relevant financial diligence. Obtain a holistic view of a company’s people, products, technologies, go-to-market plan, competitive positioning, addressable market, and other vital drivers for making investment decisions.

• Thesis Development: Assist the Investment Manager in formulating thesis for specific themes each quarter, collaborating with research leads, program managers, and subject matter experts.

• Recruitment Process Management: Supervise the overall recruitment process and logistics. This includes preparing investment materials, running investment committees, and supporting the Investment Manager in contract negotiation and team signing.

• Founder Relations: Navigate relationships and interactions with prospective founders, ensuring candidates understand Outlier’s unique value proposition and ensuring smooth interactions and communication throughout the recruitment cycle.

• Investment Strategy: Develop and maintain a clear and comprehensive investment viewpoint on categories and companies, justifying investments for delivering exceptional returns.

• On-Chain Activity: Keep a robust understanding of disruptive market technology trends, developing market maps, and conducting targeted outreach for potential investments.

• Market Research: Aid the Investment Manager with research activities to ensure the team develops core competencies across sectors within Web3 (AI, Depin, DeFi, gaming, infrastructure, etc.).

What We Are Looking For

• 1-3 years of experience in early, fast-paced environments within technology, startups, entrepreneurship, or venture capital, with at least 1 year in Web3.
• Ambition to be part of and manage a fast-growing team with the creativity to explore outside-the-box new opportunities and ways to expand our business.
• Ability to work cross-functionally and collaboratively in an unstructured environment, comfortable with minimal direction and high expectations.
• Firm grasp of Web3, crypto, and blockchain concepts and ecosystems.
• Skill in synthesizing complex information, forming sharp viewpoints, and communicating them clearly and succinctly to varied audiences.
• Appreciation for scalable systems and processes.
• Passion and demonstrated ability to swiftly learn new domains and technologies.
• Comfortable building conviction based on both qualitative and quantitative data points.
• High motivation, capable of dealing with both routine tasks and the more engaging aspects of the role.
• Effective problem-solving capabilities with strong interpersonal skills.
