Role Description

We are seeking a Principal Engineer to establish our Platform Engineering Team. This role involves constructing an internal developer platform to fast-track our engineering efforts. Your responsibility will entail scaling our host and software management solutions to accommodate thousands of bare-metal servers, including Solana validator(s) and our RPC fleet. You will develop service frameworks that provision and manage distributed services globally, ensuring high reliability and uptime as they handle billions of customer requests daily. Passion for blockchain technology and strong ownership driving your work are key ingredients for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage automated systems for deploying, monitoring, and maintaining bare-metal servers and services.
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployments.
  • Enhance infrastructure and network security by implementing best practices and proactive strategies.
  • Monitor system performance, identify and resolve issues to ensure high availability and reliability.
  • Lead incident response and root cause analysis for system outages and issues.
  • Implement stringent security measures to protect sensitive data and mitigate cyber threats.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to optimize service performance and scalability.
  • Establish and enforce policies and procedures to ensure adherence to industry standards and regulations.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years in a DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering role, favorably in high-performance, low-latency environments.
  • Experienced in managing and optimizing bare-metal server environments.
  • Proficient in scripting and programming languages (e.g., Bash, Python, Go).
  • Skilled in Rust, Golang, Java, or comparable languages.
  • Proficiency with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).
  • Strong grasp of automation tools and frameworks (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, Puppet, Chef).
  • Expertise in CI/CD tools and practices (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI).
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Strong communicator, capable of effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work independently and responsibly manage projects from initiation to completion.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with blockchain technologies, especially Solana.
  • Prior involvement in a startup or fast-paced environment.
